Dc. Mitch Roman officiating at St. Philip Neri church in Rome

My name is Mitchel Roman. I am a life-long member of St. Philip Neri parish in Empire, MI. I grew up on Glen Lake next to the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. I graduated high school from Glen Lake Community Schools and then earned a Bachelors of Arts in Business from Hillsdale College, a small liberal arts college in southern Michigan.

After a few years in the working world, in February 2013, I felt God calling me to a deeper life of prayer. I did not know what it was or really how to answer it. In the following months, God led me to ask about discerning the vocation to the Priesthood. It was that August that I started my new journey with my enrollment at the Pontifical College Josephinum Seminary in Columbus, OH. After completing my 2 years of Philosophy, I am now underway with my Theological Studies on yet another adventure as I begin my first year at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, Italy.

I am so blessed to be studying for the Diocese of Gaylord. I thank the Most Rev Steven Raica for all his support, as well as St. Philip Neri in Empire. Please continue to pray for an increase of vocations to the priesthood, marriage and religious life.

Prayer for Vocations

Your Son told us to ask You
to send workers into the harvest.

Bless our beloved Diocese of Gaylord with:
holy priests and seminarians who radiate Your love;
zealous religious who imitate Your Son’s poverty, chastity and obedience;
devoted deacons who inspire us to ever greater service;
faithful husbands and wives who reflect Christ’s love for His spouse, the Church;
and single men and women who love You above all else.

Through the intercession of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel,
open the hearts of those who have yet to discern their calling
to the still whisper of Your voice
and the transforming power of Your grace.

Send Your Holy Spirit to help us recognize Your will
and embrace it in loving trust.

As we each strive to live out our vocation,
may our humble efforts proclaim Your greatness
and secure this local Church on the firm foundation that is
ONLY JESUS!
